Most people use ChatGPT to answer questions. Agent Mode does something different. It opens its own browser, clicks around, fills in forms, and checks its own work. You give it a job. It goes and does it.

Here's the one that started this pack. Picking a product you want to buy online, then handing ChatGPT this exact prompt:

The original · discount code finder

Find me discount codes for this item. Go to the site, add the item
to the cart, test different discount codes, find the one that
works, and use agent mode.

Upload a photo of the product first. ChatGPT opens its own browser, adds it to the cart, tries codes one by one, finds the one that works, and updates your cart. It even screenshots the proof.

That's one job. Agent Mode can run this pattern on almost anything. Here are 4 more, plus the setup and the safety rules you actually need.

Setup

Turn it on. 2 minutes.

Open ChatGPT. Look for the + or tools button near the message box.
Select Agent Mode (some plans call it Operator or Browse). If you don't see it, it may need a paid plan.
Give it a job in plain English. It'll open a live browser window so you can watch it work.

You can pause or stop it any time. Watch the first run or two before you trust it to run in the background.

The price drop watch.

Prompt 2 · Track a price

I'm watching this product: [paste product link or upload photo].

Check the price on [site name] once a day. If it drops below
$[your target price], or if a new discount code appears, tell me
right away. Don't buy anything. Just watch and report.

Turn this into a scheduled task (ask ChatGPT to "run this daily") and it checks without you opening the app.

Prompt 3 · Find it cheaper

I want to buy this: [paste product name or link].

Search 3-5 major retailers that sell it. For each one, find the
price, shipping cost, and any active discount codes. Give me a
table ranked by total cost, cheapest first. Don't buy anything.
Just show me the comparison.

Prompt 04

The refund request writer.

Prompt 4 · Get your money back

I want to return or get a refund for this order: [paste order
details or a screenshot].

Find this company's return or refund policy. Tell me if I still
qualify. Then write the exact message I should send their support
team, using their own policy language back to them. Don't send
anything. Just write it and show me their policy first.

Prompt 05

The subscription cleanup.

Prompt 5 · Cancel what you forgot

Here are subscriptions I think I'm still paying for:
[list the services, or paste your bank/card statement].

For each one, find their cancellation page. Some companies hide
it on purpose. Tell me exactly where it is and how many clicks it
takes. Don't cancel anything. Just find the path and show me.

Once you see the path, decide for yourself. Some of these are worth doing manually, since cancellation often triggers a "wait, here's 50% off" offer you may actually want.

Three rules before you let it loose

Never let it pay without you watching. Every prompt above says "don't buy anything, just show me." Keep that line in. Review the cart yourself before checkout.
Don't hand it your saved passwords. Log in yourself when it needs an account, or use a browser session you're already signed into. Never paste a password into the chat.
Watch the first run. Agent Mode shows you its browser live. Watch what it clicks the first few times so you trust what it does when you're not looking.

You give the job. It does the clicking. You still make the call on anything that costs money.
